Passed away peacefully in hospital with his family by his side. Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 63 years Fay(nee Jackson) and his children Barbara [John], Nancy, Scott [Kathryn] and grandchildren Bradley, Caitlin, Nicholas, Steven, Emily, Brian and Cailey. Predeceased by his parents William A.L. Armstrong and Archena Conner and his brother William B. Armstrong. Born in Winnipeg and raised in Steep Rock MB, he was educated at St. John's School (Winnipeg) and the University of Manitoba following which he served in the RCAF and the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm in WWII. He earned a B. Sc. Metallurgical Engineering from Queen's University (1949), an MBA from the University of Toronto (1954) and a Diploma in International Business from the Centre d'Etudes Industrielles in Geneva (1958). He worked at Alcan and the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources from which he was seconded to the Embassy in Washington and High Commissions in London and Canberra. He was a longtime member of the Canadian Club of Ottawa and past president of the Friday Luncheon Discussion Club at the Ottawa YMCA. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff of the Ottawa Hospital General Campus for their kind and compassionate care.

Friends and Family are invited to visit at Beechwood, Cemetery and Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue (east of Vanier Parkway), Ottawa from 7 - 9 p.m. Friday, October 18, also Saturday Oct 19th from 1p.m. until time of Memorial service in the Sacred Space at 2 p.m.
