As a boy living in the UK during World War Two was always excited to see the famous Lancaster bomber as they flew over our house either leaving or returning from their dangerous missions. Howard and Marilyn became our friends long after the war and my memories of him are a combination of deep gratitude for his service as a flyer in the RCAF as well as his ever-present mix of kindness , cheerfulness and good humour. Jan and I miss him a lot. The many times we spent with Howard and Marilyn at their home in Almonte are among our fondest memories.

We first met Howard and Marilyn when we stayed at their B&B as we came to live in Almonte and as our new home was being built. They made us feel most welcomed. Howard was always at his cheerful hosting best. Thanks for the memories. You will be missed.

Howard was my boss in Duesseldorf. I learned a lot from him and Jean. He was one of the last of a wonderful generation.

On our first assignment in Duesseldorf Howard made us feel at home. He was firm but fair and I learned a lot from him. We remember the family and send our prayers and condolences.

Dear Marilyn
from the time we bumped into each other in Chiang Mai, it's been a thrill to watch the Campbells enjoying and providing enjoyment in a good life! Howard will be sorely missed. Thinking of you at such a hard time. Rick & Edwina Kohler

Having worked with Howard during his posting to the Canadian Consulate General in Philadelphia, my husband and I had the pleasure of knowing him and his entire family. He was a very kind and generous person and shall be missed. To his entire family, we extend our deepest sympathy.

Howard was one of my heroes. As a youngster in England I heard and saw those Lancaster bombers take off and knew that when they arrived back that some had not returned. "At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them."
