MCKAY, Howard
With much sadness, we announce the loss of Howard Alexander McKay in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Lois (Neate) McKay for 66 years. He fought a long fight at Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, Ottawa, where he received excellent care. He leaves three sons, Douglas (Julie), Bruce (Audrey), Don (Martha); granddaughters Lindsey & Sage; grandsons Alex, Liam and Cory; his sister Joan (Robert) and sister-in-law Nancy. He was predeceased by brothers Charles and Paul. Howard was in the Royal Navy. He joined the National Research Council and worked there for 41 years. Howard was very active at MacKay United Church as an Elder, Choir Member, Scout and Tyro Leader, and Presbytery Member; he was active at Stewart House and was an avid woodcarver. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor Street), Ottawa, on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at MacKay United Church, 39 Dufferin Road (at MacKay Street), Ottawa on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre or MacKay United Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
