ARMSTRONG, Irma Felicia (nee Munro)
May 2, 1932 - July 3, 2012
Irma Felicia Armstrong, beloved wife of Hugh of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Peter Lougheed Centre after a brief illness. She is survived by Hugh, her loving husband of sixty years; daughter Patricia McIntyre (John) of Calgary; sons Tom Armstrong (Gayle) of Carstairs and Bob Armstrong (Rosemary) of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren, Shannon Ward (Blair), Lauren Case (Joe), Connor McIntyre, Daniel Swadden, Kari Armstrong (Jason), Ryan Armstrong (Ashley), Drew Armstrong, Evan Armstrong, and Samuel Armstrong; and four great-grandchildren, Mycah, Bennett and Nattali Ward, and Megynn Peddle. She is also survived by brother-in-law Murray Cowan; sisters-in-law Elaine Munro and Viola Munro; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Ottawa area. Irma was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Mildred Munro, and by her sisters, Frances Cowan, Myrtle Holtz and Irene Pierce, and brothers John Munro and Charlie Munro. Irma was born and grew up on the family farm at Kinburn, Ontario. She moved west in 1959 with her husband and family to the Northwest Territories, then lived many years in Alberta, B.C., Washington State, and Manitoba. The family first came to Calgary in 1969 and, after leaving several times, returned to stay in 1996. Irma enjoyed visiting relatives in Ottawa and area, summer holidays at the family cottage on Lake of the Woods, and travels to Manitoba, Waterton National Park, Cypress Hills and many places in B.C. Irma devoted her life to caring for and loving her family and she was expert at preparing meals and presiding over large family gatherings. She will be missed by all, but happy memories will remain in our hearts forever. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.
