Janine’s rich life came to a quiet end on April 11, 2018. Her children, grandchildren, and their families are all deeply saddened.

Widow of Rodolphe Bietlot (1927-1977), sister of Liliane Doremans (Roger Nachtergaele), Janine always gathered her loved ones around her and, of course, around her table.

Born in Brussels (Belgium), she lived in Congo (Zaire) and Lebanon before moving to Canada where she worked at the University of Ottawa as a special educator.

She is survived by her children Henri (Ramona), Valérie (Kevin), and Laurence. Sadly, her eldest, Philippe (Christine), died in 2014.

She also leaves behind her grandchildren,Thomas (Valérie), Nathalie (Gilles), Julien (Odile-Anne), Dominique (Scott), Zoé (Eric), and Simon, and her great-grandchildren, Coline, Henri, and Raphael.

A private family ceremony will take place in May, the time of lilacs and renewal.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Queensway-Carleton Hospital ([email protected]) or the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.
