We have just learned of John having passed away. We had lovely dinners with him at our home in the Glebe as he was our tenant in the home we purchased where he had lived for 14 years. A wonderful enjoyable dinner guest and friend who could speak knowledgeable on so many topics. He had love of sports and wonderfully great humour which we will miss. God bless. Ralph & Cindy Moxness

Thank you John for seven intense months of weekly analysis. Profound insights, hard work, humour, struggle, deepening imaginative practice and such respect.
And thanks for your razor sharp scholarship, brilliant writing and superb one liners that could bring uncomfortable but revealing truth and light in an instant.
I miss Friday morning enormously but know you have changed everything for the better. Travel safe into The Great Mother.

John's love of music was wide-ranging, from that of the NAC Orchestra to favorites like the Wabash Cannonball and the Orange Blossom Special.
When seven of us gathered for supper, discussions/arguments would inevitably
ensue. Religion, politics, world views were the usual topics. While most were serious and balanced they sometimes morphed into 'argument as entertainment' with John as the conductor or 'argument as sport'. In the latter, although out-numbered six to one, John always came out on top.

Thank you, John, for the earthy memories that will be cherished forever! No doubt you are now living with the Divine - and can now experience this reality without further exploration and discussion. Enjoy your new life!

John was a remarkable man, a rare combination of intellectual depth, incomparable sense of humour, and knowledge of professional sports. He was a credit to the Oblates and to the Church. RIP.

As a friend said when I told him the news of John's passing, it was a privilege to have know him. He made a great contribution. I will miss our annual Golden Lake Theologicals and Sens and Jays bashing. RIP.
