GOERTZEN, Karl Henry
RCMP civilian member
Karl was born on October 7, 1971 and went home to be with Jesus on November 12, 2012, after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Wonderful husband to his wife, Jennifer, dear son to Lena and the late Irv, survived by his sisters Darlene (Randy) and Paula (Steve). Cherished son-in-law to Bruce and Rita Frost and brother-in-law to Kathleen Frost. Incredible uncle to Jayson (Brittany), Christina, Brittany, Justin and Joshua. Karl loved life and made everyone feel special. He loved God and lived a life of thankfulness. Karl was an accomplished artist. His canvas was his journal, openly sharing with the world the torment and the daily challenge of mental illness. Karl was brave, loving, gentle, funny and creative. His life and his art impacted many. He will be greatly missed. Family will receive condolences at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa on Sunday, November 18 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Memorial Service will be held in the Sacred Space on Monday, November 19 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, and for those who wish, a donation to the Salvation Army in memory of Karl's generous heart would be appreciated.
