ROCHE, Lawrence James "Larry"
In hospital on Thursday, December 20, 2012 of leukemia and myelofibrosis. Beloved husband of Leslie (Empringham) for 42 years. Dearest Dad of Patrick (Katherine) of Calgary and Bridget (Albrecht Schulte-Hostedde) of Sudbury. Delighted, fun-loving Grandpa of Molly, Megan, Konrad and Ivy all of whom he loved so very much. Cherished brother of Kathie (Mike Lee) of Toronto. Larry taught math and physics for the Ottawa Board of Education for thirty years and was a very active member of O.S.S.T.F. for many of them. As well as his classroom time, Larry really enjoyed the times he took members of the Woodroffe Outers' Club on hiking and canoeing expeditions. They were a highlight for him in his many years of teaching. Larry loved to play hockey, which he did three times a week until May, when this illness hit him. He also had many great times downhill skiing on the mountains of Europe, Canada and several American states. He really enjoyed cycling until last spring. But his greatest claim to fame was his wonderful, cheerful, calm, fun- loving personality. Larry had so many friends and he cherished them all. We thank so many people who have helped us on this long, difficult journey: those who have driven, provided wonderful food and loving support. What a joy you have been to us. We also offer our deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support workers on the 5th floor of the Ottawa Hospital General Campus. You maintained his dignity and cared for him.
