DE RITIS, Maria
1948 - 2013
Maria De Ritis (nee Giammarino) passed away in hospital on June 11, 2013 at the age of 64 after a courageous battle with lymphoma and leukemia. She will be dearly missed by her husband Nick (Nicola) and by her daughters Claudia and Tiziana. She is survived by her sister Giliana (Guido) Ferrara in Italy and predeceased by her brother Camillo (Maria) Giammarino. She was born in the town of Fara F. Petri in Chieti (Abruzzo), Italy and moved to Ottawa, Canada in August of 1969. Maria was a master seamstress by trade, a fantastic cook and gardener and a zealous Bible student. She had a kind and generous heart and she was always a source of strength and encouragement to her friends, neighbours and those of like faith, even during her illness. She was comforted by God's promise of a resurrection and looked forward to the day when "God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more." (Rev. 21: 3, 4).
Special thanks to the medical staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 followed by a reception at the Alymer Kingdom Hall Complex at 1432 Alymer Road in Gatineau.
