Maureen Edith Pilote (née Sutherland) aged 72, died peacefully May 11, 2018, at the Ottawa General Hospital with her family by her side. She was born July 28, 1945, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the daughter of George MacKay Sutherland and Eileen Sutherland-Johnson (née Smyth). Maureen leaves behind her husband of 50 years Denis Pilote, her daughters Sharlène and Tanya (Mike Klein Swormink), and her grandsons Thomas and Jonah. She also leaves behind many good friends at the Bearbrook Retirement Residence and her beloved cat Misty. She is predeceased by her sister Judy (Ron Simonite) and will be missed by her nephews Doug (Barb and Riley) of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Ken (Gloria, and Brenna and April) and Chris (Anne James) of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital, especially Dr. Jerry Maniate for his caring and compassion, as well as Maureen's nurse Pam who was a ray of sunshine during a very difficult time. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the in memory of Maureen.
