WWII Veteran
It is with deep sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of Mona Beryl Kaine (Hicks), age 93. She lived her life with boldness, strength of character and steely determination. Beryl passed away after a brief illness on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Russell Meadows Retirement Community where she had been living the last year.
Born in Mount View, NB, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Florence (Sweeney) Hicks. Formerly of Sackville, NB, she was an overseas WW II veteran, and retired Canadian government employee, she loved to travel, adored the ocean (could sit for hours watching it); she was a cow aficionado and loved a good mystery book. She will be dearly missed by her loving daughter Sheila (Don) Forsyth of Metcalfe, ON; nieces Myrna Crowe, Sharon Henwood; best friend Georgina Barrett; sister-in-law Ruby Hicks and other friends and family. In addition to her dear husband Eursal, she was predeceased by siblings Verna Saunders, Louise Logan, Helen Hicks and Ormond Hicks.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506) 364-1300 where visiting will take place on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from noon until 2 p.m. immediately followed at 2 p.m. by the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Four Corners Cemetery.
