4 December 1932 - 10 December 2012
Peacefully at home, and with her beloved husband of 56 years Norm by her side, Nancy passed away with dignity on December 10, 2012. Nancy was a loving and devoted wife to Norm, and mother to her children Heather, Lee and John (Janice); grandmother to Jennifer, Dustin (Shauna), Caitlin and Kendra; and great-grandmother to Sebastien. Nancy leaves behind a legacy of grace and honour. She was a woman of love and conviction. She will be remembered for her positive, compassionate and kind spirit, her loving blue eyes and warm smile, and for her deep caring, not only for her family but for humankind. She was deeply spiritual, and a true "friend to man." She was a published author and poet, an artist, a blogger for the Ottawa Hospital and more recently the publisher of a monthly bulletin called TLC (Tread Lightly Company) – her special way of inspiring and comforting people who are dealing with the complexities of life. Nancy spent her childhood in Toronto and later became a teacher. She often talked about the joy she found in teaching. She had a special ability to guide and influence her students. She carried that on to her family and raised their children to care about others. She married Norm after his graduation from RMC in 1956 and they lived, travelled and raised their family in Europe, the US and in many parts of Canada. She was devoted to Norm and together they created a home that was filled with love. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Monday, December 17th from 3p.m. until time of the Memorial Service at 4p.m. In memory of Nancy donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to Dr. John Brewer, two very special nurses Rosaleen Munton and Judy Duncan, and to all of the wonderful medical staff who took care of Nancy.
