ROMANIUK, Pauline (nee Holowenko)

Born in Oak Brae, Manitoba on July 9, 1915. In Ottawa, February 4, 2013, Baba fell asleep in the Lord peacefully with her family at her side at Medex/Extendicare Nursing Home. Predeceased by her husband, Nykola (Nick), her parents Michael Holowenko and Paraska (Pearl) Czorny/Holowenko/Nahulak, her brothers, Stephen and Peter Holowenko, and her sisters Lillian Koshowski, Jessie Holowenko, Anne Lococo, and Mary Moroz. Pauline is survived by her daughter Gloria Winn (Harvey), grandsons Fr. Michael Winn, Larry Winn (Marie Burnett) and Todd Winn (Natalie), and nine great grandchildren: late Gabrielle (in utero), Nicholas, Kate, Sarah, Caleb, Joseph, Mara, Samuel, and Catherine. Pauline, a woman of great faith in God, was an amazing cook and loved to provide hospitality to family and visitors. She was gifted in caring for her home, canning and gardening and making quilts, afghans, slippers, rugs, doilies, etc. for her family and others whom she loved. Visitation was held on February 8, 2013 at the Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, 1-3 pm and again at St. John the Baptist Parish, 6-7 pm with Order of Burial (part 1) prayers following. On February 9, Order of Burial (part 2) and Divine Liturgy for the Reposed was held at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine at 9:00 am. Interment took place at Pinecrest Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be expressed by donations to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine, Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Seminary, or the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies at Saint Paul University.
