BRADT, Phyllis Jean (nee Lugg)
Phyllis passed away peacefully in Ottawa on October 13, 2013 at age 85. She was born in Chatham, Ontario on July 17, 1928 to the late Percy and Hazel (nee Ledman) Lugg. She married Paul Bradt on July 26, 1958 and he died in 1996. Phyllis will be sadly missed by her daughter Diane (Greg) Williams of Forest, OH; her sister-in-law, Margaret Lugg and her niece, Lois Lugg of Silverdale, WA; and her cousin, Twila Brindley and lifelong friend, Mary Shafer, both of London, Ont. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert, and infant sister, Joyce. Phyllis taught high school history for several years in north central and southwestern Ontario before relocating to Ridgemont High School in Ottawa in 1959. She was a long time active member of Rideau Park United Church where she taught Sunday school for many years before becoming a unit leader in the UCW. She enjoyed participating in many social events at the church, especially the annual bazaar. The family would like to thank Dr. William Splinter and the staff at Oak Park Retirement Community, especially Cheryl, Tom, Kathy, Heather, and T.J., for their kindness, compassion, and infinite patience. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St (at O'Connor) on Thursday, October 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Rideau Park United Church, 2203 Alta Vista Drive, on Friday October 18th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Humane Society, Union Mission, or Rideau Park United Church.
