DIXON, Ralph Langley Facing the "final curtain" on November 28, 2017, at 89 years of age, Papa bravely chose to leave us on his own terms, surrounded by his loved ones, at the Ottawa General Hospital. He lived a long and healthy life, still doing back flips off the diving board into his 80s. His good nature and humor are legendary, his jokes not to be forgotten. Creative on wood and canvas alike, his greatest passion was jewellery. He apprenticed in Montreal in his teens and was a master goldsmith at 25. He opened his first business, R.L. Dixon Jewellers, in 1961. His business grew and he opened a second location in Ottawa in 1977, finally moving his family there. As successful in business as he was, he was always a jeweller at heart. He was never happier than sitting at his bench designing and creating unique pieces for one of his many clients. These pieces are part of his legacy. He never truly retired and continued to work casually until the end. He was creative in all he did and an innovator of many production and repair techniques. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. He requested that no service be held, but we hope that you will instead chose to toast him and his memory with a martini or scotch and maybe a good cigar. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen (Kane) and leaves behind his sons, Geoff (Chantal) and Matt (Tammy), his daughter Melissa Senyshyn (Paul), his grandchildren, Alex and Alyssa, Jacob and Jordan and Samantha and Zachary, great-granddaughter Langley, and his partner Clara Palmer. Thanks to the doctors and staff of the Ottawa Hospital group, especially our nursing "angels", for all you did so well. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ralph please consider the Vasculitis Foundation of Canada. Arrangements entrusted to Kelly Funeral Home, Barrhaven Chapel 3000 Woodroffe Ave, Nepean 613-823-4747 Condolences and sharing memories at www.arbormemorial.ca/en/kelly-barrhaven "For what is a man, what has he got If not himself, then he has naught To say the things he truly feels And not the words of one who kneels The record shows I took the blows And did it my way Yes, it was my way"
