Slipped peacefully away on June 6th, 2013 at the age of 76 after a valiant fight against ovarian cancer. Sonia is survived by husband Clement, daughter Frances (Kevin), son Clement Jr. (Maryse) and grandsons Julien and Gabriel as well as brothers Andre (Yolande), Pierre (Marielle), Paul, Louis, Michel (Nicole) and sister Arlette (Jean). Predeceased by brother Yvan Rousseau. On her behalf, the family thanks Dr. Michael Fung-Kee-Fung and his team at the Ottawa Hospital – General Campus as well as the dedicated and hardworking gynecology/ oncology nurses of the 8 West Unit and the Chemotherapy Day Care Unit, the Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital, CCAC, Carefor, We Care and the many staff who cared for Sonia at the Valley Stream Manor. The family owes a debt of gratitude to all of our relatives and friends for the many ways in which they have supported us through this difficult time. At her request, a private cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Sonia's Life will be held in Ottawa and in her home town of Nicolet, Québec. In lieu of flowers, donations to either Ovarian Cancer Canada, the Gynecologic Oncology Fund of The Ottawa Hospital (mail to: The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, 737 Parkdale Avenue, 1st Floor, Ottawa ON K1Y 1J8) or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Sonia, you were well loved and you will be missed. Celebration of Life in Ottawa, June 29th, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Carleton Heights Community Centre, 1665 Appledoorn Avenue.
