Sadly we announce Bill's peaceful passing on July 4, 2015 at the Concordia health facility in Bella Vista, Arkansas, at age 80. He was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he had a memorable career in radio, TV and the local entertainment scene until the late seventies when he and his family moved to Ottawa. He became a Special Assistant to the late Hon. Robert Stanfield, who was Opposition Leader in the federal Parliament. On Mr. Stanfield's retirement, Bill joined the Public Service of Canada and served in several appointments at the Executive level until his retirement in 1994. Predeceased by his parents William Francis and Jane Grogan, first wife Helen and daughter Tammy (Oliveira), he leaves daughters Kim (Collier), Kerry (Doyle), Tricia (Overhill), second wife Margaret McGroarty, and dear brother Robert (Helen) and their family Robert (Shelley), Diane (Robert), and Lynn (David). Bill is also survived by his loving partner Janet Cochran. He will be greatly missed by an extended family of relatives and friends. At Bill's request, funeral arrangements were private. A family graveside service was held at Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa on September 25, 2015. In- memoriam donations to local Alzheimer societies would be appreciated.
