A soul of great caring, comfort and compassion, Mom left peacefully on her spiritual journey during the twilight hours of Monday, April 14, 2014. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Delmer. She leaves behind her cherished children: Daleanne (Bob) Barnes, Alan (Sharon) Taylor and Lauren (Stephen) Rocque; her adored 6 grandsons: Jeff (Jamie) and Jon (Sue) Barnes; Brad (Julia) and Brent Taylor, and Jason (Amanda) and Evan (Carina) Rocque. Mom always felt so fortunate to have lived long enough to know the blessings of holding all 10 of her great-grandchildren: Hannah and Nathan Barnes, Lucas and Jacob Barnes; Alexander, Jackson and Catherine Taylor; and, Grace, Noah and Nathaniel Rocque. A woman of great fortitude and courage, Mom was the glue that held our family together, while instilling in all of us, the importance of family. She was a source of strength and inspiration, particularly during her later years when illness chipped away at her body, but not her soul. We all feel so fortunate to have shared in her life's journey, to enjoy special times of celebration and quiet days of reflection. We are deeply thankful to Dr. Claire Schnurr who provided Mom a depth of care and kindness that knew no bounds. Sincerest thanks are also extended to Mom's dear friend, Ruth, for her countless visits, providing friendship and love. We also wish to thank the staff of Park Place Seniors' Suites and Retirement Residence, for their gentleness, care, and many friendships. And to all the staff of the Champlain Community Care Access Centre, the Elizabeth Bruyere Palliative Care Team and the Saint Elizabeth and Bayshore Health Care centres, we are most grateful. You will not be forgotten. Family and friends are invited to CAPITAL FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive (613-692-1211), for visitation on Sunday, April 20, 2014 from 7 to 9 p.m. with Funeral in the chapel on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the Centre. If you wish to make a donation in memory of our mother, please consider the Irving A Greenberg Cancer Centre c/o Queensway Carleton Hospital. Online condolences and memorial donations may be made at www.capitalmemorial.ca.
Until we meet again, know that we are all
better people for having known the depth of
your love for us all.
