BRODEUR, Fr. Marcel O.S.M.
Peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the age of 91 in his 65th year of priesthood. Born in Danville, Quebec, Fr. Marcel was the son of the late Bibiane (nee Phoenix) and the late Phydime Brodeur. He is survived by his sisters, Sr. Madeleine C.N.D. and Cecile Geoffroy (Laurent) and by his brother Maurice (Claire). Predeceased by his siblings Sr. Bibiane C.N.D., Fr. Robert Brodeur O.S.M., Gerard (Noella), Sr. Monique C.N.D. and Raymond (Thérèse). He will be missed by his many loving nieces and nephews. He leaves to mourn the Servite Fathers and Sisters. Fr. Marcel was ordained in Rome, Italy in 1949. Shortly after his ordination he became a professor at the Notre Dame Servite College in Ayer's Cliff, QC. From 1952-1987 Fr. Marcel served as Parish Priest in churches in Montreal, Ottawa, Gaspé and Winnipeg. He spent the last 20 years in Ottawa as Parish Priest of St. Anthony's Church and Superior of the Ottawa Servite Fathers. He was respected and loved by his parishioners. Saturday, May 31, 2014 and Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Solemn Translation Monday, June 2, 2014 at 10 a.m., to St. Anthony's Church, Booth at Gladstone. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Funeral Tuesday in St. Anthony's Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment Notre Dame Cemetery.
