SPORN, Edith Edith Sporn, beloved wife of the late Leo Sporn; devoted mother of Sonja (Ronald Kesten) and Claire (Jonathan Starr) Sporn; cherished grandmother of Leo Spornstarr; dear sister to the four late Rothman brothers - Max, Alex, Sam and Carl; and, a treasured friend of many. Edith valued family, community and her spirituality. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue for over sixty years and a lifelong member of Hadassah-WIZO. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor; but most importantly, for the modest, unassuming manner in which she conducted her life, always unselfish and concerned for the welfare of others. Thank you to all her caregivers - Shala, Faisa (Fay), Helen, Vera, Myra and especially to her friend and companion Emily. Thank you to the staff at Hillel Lodge for their compassionate and professional care. Donations in her memory to Hillel Lodge Therapeutic Department. The family respectfully requests no home condolence visits. A Graveside Service was held at the Jewish Memorial Gardens, Bank Street, Ottawa on Wednesday, September 8th 2010.

Dear Sonja, Ron and Family,

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your dear mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Reading about her life, it is clear that she was a delightful and caring person, well loved and respected by all. May the sorrow you feel now gradually give way to cherished memories of happier days from a long and interesting life.

Dear Sonja,Ron and family.My sincere sympathy and condolences at this time. You have been a great help to my father and myself and i cannot thank you enough. Just like your mother you are so very caring and special to so many people. She is an inspiration to all just like yourselves are. She was so lucky so lucky to have such a devoted daughter and son in law and family. You are so blessed to have had such a special mother.She will be sadly missed by all. You must have a lot of special memories with her. Again my condolences from myself and my father. If there is anything i can do please let me know.My thoughts are with you, Ron and Kurt Brewer
