Dear Dorothy. I am truly truly sorry for your loss. You and Alan always welcomed me into your home. I still remember all the chinese take-outs we used to have and the endless number of movies we would watch together (even though I always fell asleep on your couch!). I too, lost a husband at a very young age. Please know that you and your family will always have a special place in my heart.

Deepest sympathy. It has been a long time since I have seen Allan. He was "Gail's big brother" when she and I were growing up, and my Dad talked about him often when they worked together at the equestrian farm. Allan will be greatly missed.

I will always remember Allan at the National Equestrian Park and more recently there when he took such good care of my daughter Sophia when she fainted after getting off her horse.

Dear Dorothy and children.
Our sincerest sympathy with the loss of your husband and father of Brent and Tracey. We were saddened and dismayed to learn of Al's passing as we returned from our vacation. Our friendship goes back to coffee at Tommy's donuts and later at Tim Horton's. They were always good times with light hearted discussions. We wish you all the best as your family must work through this major loss.
We will never forget this good man.
Sincerely Deanna and Keith

Dorothy, Brent & Tracey,
We wanted to let you know that you have our deepest heartfelt sympathy, and our hearts are truly saddened by your loss.
Allan was more than just a wonderful person. He was always so kind and considerate and he welcomed us with open arms into your wonderful family, especially our son Keith. The values that he instilled in his children he has passed on to so many others. We know that his passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of all those who knew him.
Allan will always remain within our hearts.

To Allan`s family, We were all so saddened to hear of Al`s sudden passing. As part of the " morning coffee club" at Timmy`s in Stittsville, it was always such a pleasure to see Al`s smiling face come through the door, or most often, already there to greet us when we arrived! The place will not be the same without him. Hoping that your wonderful memories of Allan give you comfort and help to ease your pain. Deepest sympathies as you mourn this wonderful gentle man. Al will truly be missed by many. God bless.

My sincere sympathies to Dorothy, Tracy and Brent and the extended Howie and Brydges families.
I have know Allan for so long, ever since he and Dorothy were dating. His warm smile and wonderful laugh never changed over the years. When our granddaughter Megan started riding at NNEP we were so pleased to see that Allan was there. We knew she was in safe hands with Allan around. He always took time to look in on her and take the time to chat.
It will be hard to adjust with life without him, as he really was larger than life in so many ways.

Only a week or two ago Al & I were sitting together at the NNEP as he and I caught up and chatted about the recent changes in my life. He listened with such a kind heart and obvious caring. He has been such a huge part of my second home, the NNEP, throughout the 17 years that I've kept my horse there. Al, I miss you, and the tears shed and these simple words seem inadequate at a time like this.
My thoughts are with your family.
May you rest in peace ?

We knew Al from the Equestrian Park and will always remember him as a kind and funny man. He would give just about anyone the shirt off his back, but he was also nobody's fool — and that is still quite a rare combination, I think.
He was very proud of his family, and spoke of you all often. We can't imagine how big a hole he will leave in your lives, as we already know how big a hole he leaves in ours.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you all.

I am sorry sorry to hear of the passing our Al. I had the pleasure of working with him at the NNEP for 15 years and he was a very special man. There will be a big hole at the Park without him. Dorothy and children know that Allan cherished all three of you. To Allan you will now have a bottomless cup of Timmies in heaven and you sure deserve it.
Hugs to you All

Working and knowing Al for over 20 years it seems impossible to believe that he is no longer with us. He has been the foundation of the Park and he will be missed more than words can say. I will miss his quick wit and teasing that always kept you on your toes. Although he was taken too soon at least we had the opportunity to know a great guy.
My deepest sympathies to his family.

Al giving me "the look".

Our family keeps our horse, Chevy, at the NNEP.
We will all miss Al terribly. He was a gentle giant who made everyone's day brighter with his "gruff" demeaner which we all knew meant he cared deeply but didn't want people to think he was a softy (which he was!).
Al, you will be forever in our hearts. Dorothy and family, our deepest condolences.
(I've attached a photo of Al taken at the NNEP in 2002. He's giving me "the look" that was meant to look gruff, but the twinkle in his eyes gives him away).

Al's other family at Nepean National Equestrian Park have been dealt a cruel blow with his sudden passing. We have lost our compass, our rudder, our "Corporate memory". Al took such pride in being the foreman at the NNEP and knew everyone and everything that was going on there at any time. He was a great friend to all who knew him and always had the time to help you, whatever the question or problem might be. He loved the horses, the cats and the people at the "Park" and was always at home working on the tractor or other farm implements. He truly enjoyed working in this environment and made it look so easy. He would be so uncomfortable with all this praise of him yet did we share these thoughts often enough with him? Al will sorely be missed and our aching hearts reach out to his family in their time of sorrow as they also try to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. May the magic of his memory help to heal our broken hearts!

Dear Brydges's.
What can one say at a time like this? ...other than, I am thinking and care for all of you, for so many different reasons.

My family knew Al through his employment at the NNEP. We will miss his cheery comments and booming voice. As a Mom, I am especially indebted to his watchful eye over my children when they attended NNEP summer camps and riding lessons. Of all my favourite memories, the most enjoyable one was his "disgust" at a horse who had broken a water pipe in his stall late at night and finding a plumber was not an easy task. Al's comments are not printable but it was evident that although, he considered this animal as just a horse, he could not dismiss his concern for its situation.
Your family will be in our thoughts as you struggle to accept the fact that Al was truly a gentle man taken much too soon.
