WOJCIK, Irena It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Irena Wojcik, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Irena passed away at the age of 68 on Saturday, February 19th, 2011 at the Civic hospital after many years of illness and tenaciously beating the odds. Her beloved daughter was by her side and prayers and love of her family and friends surrounded her both near and far. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of almost five decades, Dr. Jacek Wojcik. She is the beloved mother of daughter Katarzyna/Kathy and her husband Gennady (son of Nikolai and the late Alexandra Reshetnikov), and adored Babcia of Eleonora/Lola. She was the cherished daughter of the late Zygmunt and Eleonora Ratuszniak, the daughter-in-law of the late Romuald and Eugenia Wojcik, and is survived by her sisters- and brothers-in-law, Teresa (Wojciech), Monika, Marek (Barbara), Marta, Jakub (Olimpia), Magdalena, and Rafal (Teresa), and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Irena was loved by a multitude of close and wonderful friends. She was also blessed with the companionship and care of Andrea Szaraz (Andras). Deepest thanks go to the wonderful and compassionate doctors and nurses who cared for Irena in her years of illness, as well as in her final days - at St Vincent Hospital, at the General Hospital, at QCH, and at the Civic Hospital Emergency and ICU. You are too numerous to count, but many of you have become like family, and have shared many trials and chuckles, fears and triumphs. Friends are invited for visitation at the Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue on Tuesday, February 22nd from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with a brief prayer service at 7 p.m.. Funeral mass at St. Hyacinth's Church (201 LeBreton Street) on Wednesday, February 23rd, at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Beechwood Cemetery and a reception for friends and family.
