VADER, Dolores 1957 - 2011 The family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of a beloved mother and friend who died peacefully in her home Friday August 26, 2011. Dolores was born in Port Perry, Ontario on September 15, 1957, daughter of Mabel Bruce and Donald Vader. She was the beloved sister to her six siblings and a wonderful mother to her daughter Rhiannon Vader-Rikhof. She graduated from McGill University in 1983 with a BA in Canadian History and obtained a Masters of Northern and Native Studies at Carleton University in 1999, and was a historical researcher for Indian and Northern Affairs Canada for most of her career. She was passionate about travel, having visited Hong Kong, Italy, Morocco, France, Netherlands and England, and was one of the most adventurous women, who was never afraid to take risks and live life to the fullest. Above all she was a fierce friend, a loyal confidant and a deeply principled person. She was always the life of the party, the last one to retire and the loudest and most exciting one in the crowd. She will be deeply missed by the many people she has touched throughout her life and will forever be in the hearts of those who loved her. Friends may call at The Whelan Funeral Home, 515 Cooper Street (between Bay and Lyon) Ottawa on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 6-9 pm and on Friday, September 2, 10:30-1:30 pm. A time of fellowship and refreshments to follow with the family, privately.
