WONG, Irene Susan (nee Joe)
Peacefully with her family by her side we sadly announce the passing of Irene in her 85th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Jim. Loving mom to Carolyn (Michael), Kelvin (Rose), and Joanne. Dear sister of Allen (Pat), Edwin (Violet), Bill (June), Daisy (Kenneth Lee), Betty (Bill Young). Adored aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family & many dear friends. Irene led an extraordinary life full of vibrance, passion, and energy. She was a shining light whose presence could fill a room. She was one of the first woman to start her own business in real estate as Irene Wong Real Estate Broker in 1968 leading to the creation of First Estate Realty Ltd in 1977. Accreditations included, Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Canada since 1973, Member of Board of Directors Real Estate Institute, accredited member Appraisal Institute of Canada, Honorary Member Real Estate Board of Ottawa Carleton since 1967, Former Director Ontario Housing Board, member & Former Chair of Business Improvement Area (BIA) Somerset Chinatown, The United Church Extension Committee. Visitation at the central chapel Hulse, Playfair, & McGarry, 315 Mcleod Street, Friday, April 27 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Ottawa Chinese United Church, 600 Bank Street, Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m. Interment Beechwood Cemetery. In Irene's memory donations to the Ottawa Food Bank or Ottawa Kiwanis Music Festival would be appreciated.
