WEITZEL, H. Richard "Dick"
"For those that he touched,
he will live on in their hearts"
On June 19th, 2012 Richard "Dick" Weitzel passed at home with family in Ottawa in his 90th year. He leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Celine (nee Lacoste) and their son H. Richard and from his first family Robert (Nico), Gordon (Pam), Dennis (Jill) and Belinda Barnes (Ron). Loving Opa to grandchildren Jennifer, Mathew, Richard, Donall, Gregory, Laura, Bradley and six great- grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Richard "Dick" was predeceased by his infant son Donald, parents George and Martha, brothers George and Herman, sisters Martha, Sarah, Lydia and Dorothy and his first wife Velma (nee Wale). Born in Runnymede, Saskatchewan September 29, 1922, trained in the RCAF as an aircraft mechanic serving in England during WWII. After farming in Saskatchewan he relocated his family to Ottawa in 1956 where he started his career at OC Transpo as a mechanic. He became equipment manager responsible for the vehicle fleet and facilities and won numerous North American Fleet management awards. In retirement he enjoyed repairing small equipment and computers. Richard loved animals, he recounted several fond memories of individual dogs and horses from his days on the farm. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21st, at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa), from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Christian Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 22nd at All Saints Lutheran Church (1061 Pinecrest Road, Ottawa) at 10:00 a.m. In memoriam donations to All Saints Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
