ECCLES, Kenneth "Lofty" LT RCN (Ret'd)
- Last "Mister" in the Royal Canadian Navy
Ken passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012 surrounded by the love and support of his family. Ken was in his 80th year.
Ken was born in Fleetwood, Lancashire, England on February 15, 1933 to the late Alexander and Nellie Eccles. Cherished husband and soul-mate of Marian Eccles (nee Yetts), and dearly loved and respected father to Susan Eccles (Richard Hazell) of Hallsville, and Valerie (Aidan) Eccles-Bruce, of Ashton. Grampie will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jordan, Jared and Kenzie. Ken was also predeceased by his beloved son, Michael, in 1963, and by his brother Wilfrid,
in 2011.
Ken was very well known as a versatile character actor in theatre circles around Eastern Ontario, and was a member of the Ottawa Little Theatre, and Barn Door Productions, based in Perth.
Ken was a proud member of the British Armed Forces for three years and the Royal Canadian Navy for thirty-three years. He also loved the game of golf and was a long time member of the 'Links O' Tay' in Perth.
Visitation at the O'Dacre Family Funeral Home, 15 Victoria Street, Perth, on Thursday, July 19th, from the hours of 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Ken's Life at 2:00 p.m.. A reception will be held at Perthshire Community Hall, 27 Lally Lane, Perth following the service.
To honour Ken, donations to the Ottawa Civic Hospital (ICU) or the Ontario Lung Association, would be appreciated.
