MARTA, James
July 17, 1961 - October 26, 2012
Peacefully in hospital surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 26 at the age of 51. Past employee of several Federal Government departments. Predeceased in 2006 by his father, Mike. Survived by his loving mother, Jackie, his identical twin brother, best friend and care-giver John, sister Rochelle Sakatch, brother Michael. Loving uncle to his four nieces Lindsay, Sabrina, Alexandra and Morgan and great- niece Lydia. James will be sadly missed by his aunt Sharon and her children D'Arcy (Shelley) and Shannon Magee, his aunt Grace Snider as well as his many other relatives and close friends. Jim loved and cared for his many pet cats over the years. Jim loved playing and being a spectator of many sports, particularly hockey, football and baseball. He was a huge supporter and long-time Sens and Rough Riders season ticket holder. His hobbies included photography and videotaping special occasions for family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, viewing new homes for renovation ideas and travelling. Thank you to the Civic Hospital's ICU staff. Special thanks to staff at the Civic, General and Riverside Dialysis Units. Special thanks to the General Hospital's Seven North-West Unit and to long-time family physician, Dr. B.W. Griffiths. Family will receive friends at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) on Thursday, November 1st from 6 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 2nd in the Pinecrest Chapel at 1 p.m. Interment will be followed by a reception. Flowers welcomed, or donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Kidney Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may made at
