HETHERINGTON, Alice May

Peacefully at Maxville Manor on Monday, November 12 with family by her side, Alice May Hetherington (nee Burton) of Russell, Ontario in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Hetherington, dear mother of David (Louise) of Vancouver and Jeffrey (Susan) of Calgary and grandmother of Sean and Reid.
Predeceased by her parents, William and Florence Burton; her brothers Raymond (late Lillian), Ernest (late Margaret), Leslie (late Dorothy) and her sister Ellen (Nell) Coleman (late Jim).
Lovingly remembered by her Burton/ Coleman family, her nephews Richard, Jim, John, Raymond and Philip and her nieces Rhoda, Barbara, Linda and Patricia. Predeceased by nieces Nancy Claridge and Joyce MacGregor and nephew Michael Coleman.
Christened Alice Mae, she emigrated from England with her family in 1927 to Russell, Ontario. In 1939, May graduated as a registered nurse after training in Brockville and Toronto and pursued her chosen profession over more than 25 years. May and Ron settled in the Toronto area, eventually retiring to summers in Elliot Lake and winters in Florida. May returned to Russell in 2001 after Ron's passing to be nearer her family.
At May's request there will be no visitation. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of Maxville Manor for their care and kindness to May over the past four years. For those wishing to remember May through a charitable donation, contributions to the Lung Association would be appreciated.
