Albert RENAUD Obituary
(1948 Olympic Gold Medalist,
Men's Ice Hockey)
Peacefully, in hospital on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the age of 92 years. Loving husband of Lorraine (nee Lefebvre). He will also be fondly remembered by Lorraine's children, Robert, Ann, Jim, and Marie and their families. Survived by his sister Madeleine Baillargeon (Guy), nephews and niece; Larry Laliberte, Clem Laliberte, Helene Francis, John Renaud, Robert Renaud, Michael Renaud, Richard Renaud, Peter Renaud and Paul Renaud. Predeceased by sister Marguerite and brothers Joe and Hector. Ab proudly represented his country on many levels; he was a WWII Veteran serving overseas, was a team member of the RCAF Flyers Men's Ice Hockey Team in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, winning Gold, and had a successful career, lasting over 35 years, as a Civil Servant with the Federal Government of Canada. A true sportsman, he was also an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Rivermead Golf Club. Though there were many accomplishments and achievements in his life, one of Ab's proudest moments came when he was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2008. A true countryman, sportsman and gentleman he will be missed by many. Visitation and funeral service times to be announced at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Tubman Funeral Homes.

Well there is one big scrimmage going on up there in the heavens, this much I know. I also know that Ab was a lovely gentleman, always smiling, very energetic, and loved to talk about the times in St. Moritz. I was so sad to hear about his passing, but I'm certain that when he passed over, there were hockey sticks raised and a cold beer waiting for him.

My sincere sympathy and thoughts are with the family. Mr. Renaud was such a wonderful man. I hold many memories of stories shared of my Dad (Curly Jones) and Mr. Renaud playing golf together (thousands of games) to collecting golf balls (also thousands of them) when the Rivermead closed in the late fall. Our family was very sad to hear this news and my Dad was especially heavy hearted to say goodbye to a very close friend. God Bless. Sandra Jones

Our Deepest Sympathy to all the Family.
Ab was indeed a true gentleman. Wherever he was he'd always embrace the moment. I personally enjoyed talking with him at the Club and was fortunate to have played a few golf games with him. We will certainly miss him.
