CHATER, Edgar Arnold
May 31, 1919 - April 9, 2013
We regret to announce the passing of our much loved father, grandfather and great- grandfather. Arnold was predeceased by Joyce, his wife of 69 years on May 21, 2012. He leaves four children: Gillian Murray (Cecil) and Janet Chater of Ottawa, Carole Carver of Victoria and Wayne Chater of Regina; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sisters Bernice Chater of Saskatoon and Dorinne Bishop of Vancouver, and sister-in-law June Barlow of Fleet, England as well as his nieces and many friends. Arnold graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Accounting and joined the army shortly afterward to serve overseas in World War II. In England he met and married Joyce, the love of his life, and brought her home to Canada in 1946. Upon his return to Saskatoon he joined the federal Department of National Revenue (now CRA) where he worked in the taxation and pensions areas until his retirement in 1983. He will be greatly missed but always remembered with fondness and a smile.
