QUIGLEY, Sister Kathryn CND
Sister Kathryn Quigley, (Sister St. Alice of the Angels) - Peacefully at Providence Motherhouse, Kingston, ON, Sister Kathryn Quigley of the Congregation of Notre Dame, died August 20, 2013 in her 101st year. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Paterson Quigley and Alice Lawlor. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Alban Quigley and her niece Ann Meyers. She is survived by her nephew-in-law Ronald K. Meyers and several grandnieces and nephews. Kathryn was born in Chatham NB, and grew up in Kingston, ON. She entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1932 and made her Religious Profession in 1934. In the following years she dedicated her life to education within the Congregation beginning in Sherbrooke, PQ followed by Notre Dame Ottawa, and later in Kingston, Westport, Pierrefonds PQ and Toronto. Sister Kathryn was well known as a school administrator and as a teacher of the French language, however, she was even better known as someone who encouraged her students and kept in contact with them over the years. Kathryn also served her community in leadership positions including two terms on Provincial Leadership Team. Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 435 Davis Drive, (Taylor Kidd Blvd and Centennial Drive) on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and from 7:00 - 9:00 pm with Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Church, 392 Palace Road on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 1:00 pm followed by the Rite of Committal in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston, ON.
