BODIE, Roland George
September 4, 1923 - December 28, 2013
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Roland Bodie, surrounded by family, on Saturday December 28, 2013 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Joan Marilyn Colquhoun for 58 years. Loving father to Margaret (Scott), Bruce (Gwenn), and Doug (Kelly). Proud grandpa to Katie (Andy), Bryson (Natalie), Chad, Shane, Drake, Blair, Kaila, and Steven. Cherished Great-Grandpa 'Rolly' to Stevie, the newest edition to the family. Dear brother of Lloyd, predeceased by his sister Margaret Mann and brother Allan.
Roland served in the RCAF during WWII in Newfoundland. He graduated from the University of British Columbia in Metallurgical Engineering after which he had a distinguished engineering career with Alcan in Arvida for 18 years followed by 18 years with the Department of Industry Trade and Commerce, until his retirement in 1990.
The family is grateful to all the physicians and nurses who provided such compassionate care to Roland over the last several years. He was a very loving, caring man who will be truly missed by all who knew him. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) on Friday January 3rd from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm followed by a service to celebrate Roland's life in the Chapel at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart Institute would be appreciated.
