SHERIDAN, Shirley Joan
nee York
Peacefully in Kanata on Wednesday June 4 2014, with her family at her side, age 80 years. Loving wife of the late James Sheridan. She will be fondly remembered by her children Ted (Karen), Bruce (Susan), Janet (Rob Capell) and grandchildren Jessica, Lindsay, Hannah, James, Katherine, Samantha and Benjamin. Dear sister of Meryl Fisher (Fred). Predeceased by her parents Alec York and Isobel Souter. From her upbringing in Flinton and Toledo Ontario, Shirley became a school teacher at age 16 and enriched the lives of hundreds of grade 2 students over her distinguished career over 30 years. She enjoyed an active retirement with bridge games, knitting, cheering on the Senators, gardening or especially time with her family. In Shirley's memory consider organ donation, the St. Elizabeth Foundation and friends are encouraged to plant a tree or perennial plant. The family expresses its deep gratitude to Dr. Paula Smith, the staff at The Royale in Kanata and the caregivers at the St. Elizabeth Foundation and the Champlain CCAC. Private family funeral arrangements.
