Ted Hewett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 17 to Jun. 18, 2017.
LCol (Retd) M.E. (Ted) 1941-2017 Ted Hewett passed away suddenly but peacefully on June 14, 2017 in Ottawa, surrounded by family. He leaves his loving wife Sandra (Boddy), children Lisa (David), Kelly (Shaun), and Michael (Elizabeth), and sister Suzanne. Ted was the proud Poppy of Alexandra, Adam, Noah, Sarah, Nathan, and Mirren. Born in London, Ont., in 1941 and raised in Owen Sound, Ted was predeceased by his parents Margaret (Gigi) and Morris. He graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, then entered the Armed Forces. Ted's long career in the Canadian military included peacekeeping duty in the Middle East, and took his young family from Canada's east coast to British Columbia, then to Brussels and Germany before settling in Ottawa in 1984. Ted spent the final phase of his career working to improve military housing across Canada. Over the years, he cultivated a love of sailing, golf, and stamp collecting. To remember Ted, consider a memorial donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

He is missed! I cherish all the wonderful memories of Ted when he visited our CFHA office here in Winnipeg and his phone calls with such sage advice! Our conferences were always more enjoyable with his humour and true and genuine appreciation of the efforts of others. Rest well Ted.

Dear Sandra & family, I was shocked and saddened on the loss of a wonderful friend and coworker at the Housing Agency since 1994. He was always thinking of others when we would chat on the phone and we had a couple of outings together to retirement parties or gatherings at "Maggie's". I will miss his sense of humour, his stories and the pride he displayed for his family. My deepest condolences. RIP Ted, you will be missed.

Dear Sandra and Kids, I was shocked to hear this, Ted was a particularly good Engineer colleague and friend of mine, and although we had lost touch more recently, after my 20 years in Asia, I will always treasure very many memories of our sailing escapades on the west and east coast and the Atlantic, no matter what happened he never lost his sense of humour. Gone but never forgotten, My heart goes out to you all at this time.
