AMBERY, Peter Dewar It is with great sadness the family of Peter Dewar Ambery announces his death on Sunday, September 3, 2006. First married to the late Ruth Sinclair Ambery and secondly to the late Marie Huck Talbot Ambery. Dear father of Rod (Janet), Jennifer (Kevin Gazley), Jeff (Diane) and Marianne (deceased) and grandfather of Tim, Heather, Patrick, Lisa and Colin. He was especially fond of his siblings, nieces and nephews: Nancy Turnbull and her children Jody, John, Sarah and Grace; Clayton Ambery and his daughter Susan (deceased); and Foster Ambery (deceased) and his children Ginny, Peter and Mark. Peter also enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Marie's children Richard, Joan, Mark, and Ann. Peter served in World War II in the Essex Scottish Regiment and was an executive with General Motors for much of his life. Some of his best times were spent boating, skiing, golfing, and playing bridge. His generosity and charm won him many friends throughout his life. The get-togethers of the "Friday Fathers" at the Club were especially meaningful for him. Peter wanted to acknowledge the caring staff of the dialysis units at both the General and Riverside campuses of the Ottawa Hospital. Peter will be missed greatly by all who knew him. At his request, a memorial service will be held next spring at his favorite place: the cottage in Goderich, Ontario. Donations can be made in Peters name to the Kidney Foundation of Ontario, the Salvation Army, or just, "pay it forward".
