BAKER, Victor Albert Veteran - WWII, RCAF July 3, 1919 - May 25, 2005 Peacefully in Ottawa, on May 24, 2005 at the age of 85. Loving husband of Florence (Peggy) Johnstone, dear father of Victoria (Jacques Pallascio) and Brian (Darlene Van Tassel), proud grandfather of Emilie and Sarah. Sadly missed by sisters Kathleen (Leonard), Betty (McKeever) and Barbara (Doubyhus), brother-in-law David Johnstone and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased in 1945 by brother Ernest. Born in Brockville, Ontario, son of the late Wilfred and Mabel Baker, Victor Baker was a long-time resident of St. Laurent, Quebec and more recently Ottawa, spending 35 years at the National Film Board where he pioneered an innovative film restoration device and participated in the early development of the IMAX projector. An elder in the United Church of Canada, Victor was an avid gardener, swimmer and outdoorsman who loved fishing, cycling and camping with his family. Friends may respects the Kelly Funeral Home, 2313 Carling Ave. (west of Carlingwood), on Friday, May 27, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service Saturday in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Cremation Beechwood Cemetery. Interment of cremated remains to take place at a later date in Brockville's Oakland Cemetery.
