Surrounded by his wife and family, Eldor C. Hetzner passed peacefully into heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Eldor was a beloved husband, father and grandfather with a deep and abiding faith in Christ. He was born Jan. 27, 1929, to the late Conrad and Katherine (Hammerbacher) Hetzner. Eldor served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War
Eldor married Margaret Link in Reese on Oct. 24, 1953, she survives him after 59 years of marriage. He was a motor route carrier for The Saginaw News for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He enjoyed gardening, home projects, euchre, fishing, folowing the Detroit Tigers, traveling and spending time with his family at the cottage in Au Gres, and the condominium in Lakeland, Fla. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth.
In addition to Margaret, Eldor is survived by his daughter, Jayne (Kurt) Heringhausen of Midland; son, Tom (Coleen) Hetzner of Frankenmuth; granddaughters, Julie, Jenny and Jill Heringhausen, and Kate Hetzner; and brother, Harold Hetzner. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, Emil, Wilmer, John and Otto Hetzner; and his sisters, Loretta Sommerfield and Helen Durrenberg.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1050 W. Tuscola St., Frankenmuth, with Pastor Gary Bender officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery in Frankentrost.
Visitation will be at Cederberg Funeral Home, 590 N. Franklin, Frankenmuth, today from 2-8 p.m., as well as at the church for one hour before the start of the service.
Per Eldor's wishes, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider the St. Lorenz Praise Ensemble in lieu of flowers.
