Jack LaVern Trask

Jack LaVern Trask, 92, of Midland, died Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2014 at his home. He was born June 19, 1921 in Port Huron, son of the late Charles Otis and Cosie Pearl (Davies) Trask. Jack served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. He married the former Dorothy Ellen Yelton in Port Huron May 20, 1944.

Jack had a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Central Michigan University. He had worked for The Dow Chemical Co., Chrysler Corporation, General Motors Corporation and other firms in the Detroit area before retiring at the age of 70.

Jack was a member of First Baptist Church in Midland, and had enjoyed boating, camping and canoeing with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife Dorothy of 70 years are his children, Diane E. Clements, Charles L. Trask, Robert T. Trask, John H. Trask; and nine grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one son, David E. Trask; and one grandson, Collin A. Trask.

Funeral services will take place 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Pastor David Brown of First Baptist Church will officiate, with burial to take place in the Midland City Cemetery. Jack's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
