Joan Carol Foster

Joan Carol Foster, 76, of Sanford, died peacefully at home on May 18, 2013. She was born in Weidman on June 7, 1936, to the late Leman and Doris (Jackson) Wheeler. After she graduated from Breckenridge High School, Joan married her sweetheart, Richard "Dick" Foster on Oct. 24, 1953. He preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2004.

Joan was a member of the Sanford American Legion Auxiliary, Sanford Blue Star Mothers and was a lifetime member of the Coleman VFW. She loved her children, grandchildren and "Pappy," her shelty.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Mike) Breedlove of Sanford, Karen (Rufus Christian) Foster of Madison, Fla.; sons, Steve (Judy) Foster of Beaverton and Al (Shari) Foster of Hope; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, Midland, on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jacob Behnken of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Jerome Township Cemetery.
