Michael R. Link

Michael R. Link, 56, of Midland, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. He was born July 21, 1957, in Saginaw, son of Veronica (Nemeth) Link of Midland, and the late Richard Walter Link.

Michael was a 1975 graduate of Dow High School and attended Delta College. He later received several bachelor's degrees, from Ferris State University and Michigan State University. He retired from Delphi in Saginaw after many years of service and was currently employed by the Dow Corning Corp. He was a member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing and playing slow-pitch softball. His greatest interest was spending time with his nieces and nephews and taking part in family gatherings. Mike's personality was such that he was always concerned about other people, and with that concern in mind, he made the ultimate gift of donating his organs and tissues, so other people could continue to live.

Surviving besides his mother, Veronica, are his sisters and their spouses, Janice and Tim Rock of Oxford, Teresa and Mark DeGroat of Freeland, Jacqueline "Jackie" Nivison and Jerri and Bill Liphard, all of Midland; 12 nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; and two great-nieces. In addition to his father, Richard, Mike was preceded in death by one nephew, Benjamin Nivison.

Private family committal services will take place in the New Calvary Cemetery. Mike's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., Midland, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, from 3-7 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Gift of Life, 3861 Research Park Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
