Richard John "Jack" Marsh

Richard John "Jack" Marsh, 93, of Midland, died early Saturday morning, Feb. 2, 2013, at Brittany Manor. He was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Flint, son of the late Ernest and Maude (Robinson) Marsh. He attended Midland schools, graduating from Midland High School.

Jack served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. On June 29, 1940, he married Dorothy D. Dunham in Midland. Jack worked for The Dow Chemical Co. as a mechanical draftsman in the power department for 41 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Jack's other memberships included the American Legion Berryhill Post #165 and the Midland Elks Lodge #1610.

Surviving is his daughter, Adorena M. (Darrell "Toby") Zwick of Ludington; two grandsons, Daniel (Heather) Zwick of Ludington and Darren Zwick of Dimondale; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Zwick and Samantha Zwick both of Ludington; and his sister-in-law, Pat Marsh of Mesa, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, on Dec. 21, 2001; and brothers, Joe and Edward.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler St. The Rev. Matthew M. Makela, of St. John's Lutheran Church, will officiate, with burial in Midland Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the Midland Area Veterans. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m., and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. John's Lutheran Church or St. John's Lutheran School.
