Michael "Mike" Kettelhohn, 69, of Midland, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late Arthur and Lucy (Cohrs) Kettelhohn. Mike graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1963. Mike served with the U.S. Army from 1963-66, serving in Thailand. He was a fireman for the city of Midland for 23 years, retiring in 1997. Mike married Nancy Brown July 14, 1979 in Midland.

He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; one daughter, Heather Kettelhohn; one son, Jeremy (Amy) Kettelhohn; three grandchildren, Dmitri Altum, Alyssa Bates and Oliver Kettelhohn. Mike is also survived by one sister, Kay (George) Pike; brothers, Rick (Connie) Kettelhohn, Kim Kettelhohn and Peter (Sarah) Kettelhohn; in-laws; Kathy Sanford, Debbie (Rich) Purvis, Bill (Renee) Brown, Harry (Cathy) Brown and Jay (Trish) Brown; several nieces and nephews; and by aunt Lois and uncle Don Nordholm.

Funeral services for Mike will take place 11 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2014, from Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Gerald Ferguson officiating. Mike's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m., and at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Full military honors will be presented by the Department of the U.S. Army and the Midland Area Veterans. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Midland Firefighters Youth Foundation.
