August ‘Gus' J. Wontorcik, 87, of Beaverton, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at his home. He was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Midland, son of the late John and Anna Wontorcik.

Gus served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and baseball. He worked as an auto body repairman for 60 years.

Gus leaves his beloved wife of 64 years, Donna (McClain) Wontorcik; sons, Jim (Gloria) Wontorcik of Hope and Bob Wontorcik of Waterford; grandchildren, Lisa Bremer of Midland, Brandon Wontorcik of Hope, Stacey (Bill) Stephenson of Waterford, Michelle Wontorcik of Rochester Hills and Dean Wontorcik of Midland;10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Leo (Frieda) Wontorcik of Midland, John (Shirley) Wontorcik of Midland; sisters, Rose (Bob) Lincoln of Midland, Kate Matthews of Midland and Pat Rhoades of Lake Leelanau. In addition to his parents, Gus was preceded in death by his son, David Wontorcik; sisters, Ann Andrews and Helen Wisnewski; brothers, Joe Wontorcik, Steve Wontorcik and Charley Wontorcik.
