Donna Kaye Lorton, 78, of Boyne City, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, of natural causes in Boyne City.
Kaye is survived by her two sons, Steve and Stuart, both from Colorado; and her sister, Mary Dunlop from Boyne City; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in her death by her husband, Ned Lorton.
Kaye was born in Boyne City, to Helen and Walfred Melin. She graduated high school from Boyne City High School in 1951 and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Central Michigan University. Kaye was a great teacher and consummate educator in the Midland Public School system for over 30 years. She devoted her life to so many students providing the highest level of education without regard.
Kaye's passions in life's journey were her family, friends, genealogy, gardening, skiing and enjoying the great outdoors absorbing the beauty of life.
Services will be held at the Stackus Funeral Home, located at 417 Elm St. in Boyne City, MI 49712, Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at 1 p.m. Public visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the day of the funeral.
