Elsia Smith Obituary

Elsia Marie Smith, loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 26, 2013. Elsia was a radiant Christian and a loving example to her family and many friends. She will be missed by many.

Elsia Marie (Seaman) Smith was born Aug. 19, 1919. She was the daughter of Albert and Elfledia (McClung) Seaman. She married Melvin Smith on Nov. 20, 1937. Elsia was involved with many activities at the Mt. Haley Church of God.

Elsia was preceded in death by Melvin on April 1, 1996; daughters, Marie Estes, Beverly McLaughlin and Brenda Bailey. She is survived by sons, Ernest (Tillie) Smith, Vernon (Mary Ellen) Smith, Donald (Ruth) Smith and Roger (Jill) Smith; and by daughter, Marilyn (Francis) Johnson. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; and 24 great- and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Myrtle Lackie. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert Seaman, Jr., Cecil Seaman, James Seaman; and sister, Erma Rydman.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. from the Mt. Haley Church of God on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013. Pastor David Aukerman will officiate, with burial at Homer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home today, Oct. 29, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider MidMichigan Hospice and/or Mt. Haley Church of God.
