Mary Sanderson, 92, of Midland, died peacefully and with dignity on June 8, 2012, at Tendercare-Clare where she had been a resident for nearly 11 years.

Mary was born on June 21, 1919, in Rosebush, to the late Ambrose and Mary (Skala) Hrdlovich. On Nov. 19, 1945, she was married to Robert E. Sanderson, who preceded her in death in December 1979.

Mary loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She could often be found coloring, doing crafts or making mud pies with them in the back yard. She was never short of love and patience when she was with them. She was an excellent cook and baker, and she loved spending time in her flower gardens.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Roberta (Richard) Beery of Midland, Barbara (Bryan) Merda of Pinconning, Margaret (Roger) Dykstra of Farwell; sons, Paul Sanderson of Midland, John (Olga) Sanderson of Prattville, Ala., Gerald Sanderson of Midland and Allen (Carrie) Sanderson of Midland. She is also survived by six granddaughters, Kayla Rinn, Jennifer Beery, Andrea Dykstra, Marina Dykstra, Yanna Turano and Tara Jegla; and two grandsons, Jacob Dykstra and Kase Dykstra. She is also survived by two adored great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Rinn and Giancarlo Turano, III. Mary was preceded in death by her sons, James and Daniel Sanderson; and by her brother, Joseph.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Homer United Methodist Church with Pastor David Mulder officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Heartland Hospice or Tendercare-Clare. In the alternative, please follow in her footsteps and do an act of kindness for someone else in her memory.

Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly is assisting the family. Online condolences can be left at www.smithminer.com.
