Sally Hiss Tabor, of Delray Beach, Fla., and formerly of Bay City, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the Health Center at Harbor's Edge in Delray Beach, Fla. A life long resident of Bay City, born on Feb. 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Arlene (Barton) and Florian Hiss. In January 2003, she became a permanent Florida resident along with her husband of nearly 65 years, Thomas Russell Tabor, who survives her.
Sally leaves behind two children, Barbara Hiss Tabor (Gary) Bosco, Thomas Hiss (Julie) Tabor; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Weingartner, Christine (Nicholas) Schwall, Thomas Crete Tabor and Tyler Crete Tabor; and two great-grandchildren, Lilly Ann and Reid Andrew Weingartner. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Hiss (Gene) Helveston; and two nieces, Martha (David) Plager and Lisa (Derek) Sprunger.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 608 N. Madison Ave. (M-25), Bay City. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 911 Center Ave. (M-25), Bay City, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012. The family will be present to greet visitors from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a more lasting memorial to honor Sally and the city she cared about so much with a gift to the Bay Area Community Foundation or the Endowment Fund at Trinity Episcopal Church.
