Richard D. Brubaker 88, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at Cartwright House in Saginaw. He was born July 26, 1925, in Gladwin, to the late Ray and Lila (Haddix) Brubaker. On June 19, 1948, he married Mildred Cuddie, who preceded him in death March 29, 2003. He was then married to Lois Rutter Aug. 28, 2004.

Richard served in the Army during World War II as a rifleman. He worked for The Dow Chemical Co., retiring May 24, 1982. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Richard is survived by his wife Lois; children, Malcolm (Jeanne) Brubaker, Mark (Melissa) Brubaker, Diana (Robert) Sevilla and Daniel(Angela) Brubaker; grandchildren, Katelyn, Courtney, Chloe, Anna, Ray, Dominic, Kariann, Allison, Logan and Gabriel; step-children, Karen Pauquette, Carol Gray, Jolene Huyck and Diane Kingdon; their spouses; children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Roszella (Bernie) Foor, Angelau (Wendell) Hoover, Alice Brubaker and Lotta Mae Mack; brothers, Ralph (Ruth) and Murray (Lenora) Brubaker; and sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Ruth Brubaker.

He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Mildred; son, David Brubaker; grandson, Martin Sevilla; and brothers Russell and Robert Brubaker.

A funeral service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Friday, May 9, 2014, at 10 a.m., with Fr. Kevin Maksym officiating. Visitation will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 4-7 p.m., and at the church, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Midland County Veterans.
