Frank G. Kania, 96, of Midland, passed away at Colonial Villa-Midland June 9, 2014. He was born May 4, 1918 in Saginaw to late John and Frances (Mikula) Kania. On Sept. 14, 1941 Frank married his Sweetheart, Eleanor Crannell. She preceded him in death Sept. 28, 2012.
Frank loved the outdoors, and he enjoyed building his home and living at Secord Lake.
Frank is survived by daughter, Linda (Dick) LaCross of Midland; grandchildren, Debbie (Robin) Wright of Midland, Dan Kania of Fowlerville, Kathy (John Andress) McCallum of Fowlerville, Matt Kania of Florida; great-grandchildren, Nikki Wright, Corey McCallum, Megan McCallum; great-great-grandchildren, Ethan McCallum and Haley Ann. He is also survived by a sister, Agnes Klein.
Frank was preceded in death by his sons, John and Ron Kania; and sister, Mary Keie.
A funeral service will be held at Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly, on Thursday, 11 a.m., with The Rev. Paul E. Schnieder of the Holy Scripture Lutheran Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Saginaw.
