Dora R. Pifher, 96, of Midland, died Friday morning, June 27, 2014, at her home. She was born May 19, 1918, in Coleman, daughter of the late Edwin and Carrie (Wotring) Fike. She married Raymond Pifher on April 11, 1936, in Coleman. He preceded her in death Dec. 18, 2003.

Dora had volunteered at the Ernie Wallace Blood Bank, was an excellent cook, seamstress and knitter. She was a member of Poseyville United Methodist Church, where she had been very active in the women's group.

Surviving are her children, Jean (James) Kaufman of Anderson, S.C., Connie (William) Deitsch of Midland, John (Susan) Pifher of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Dora was preceded in death by three brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2014, from the Poseyville United Methodist Church. Pastor Rahim Shabazz and Pastor Mike Luce will officiate, with burial in Poseyville Cemetery. Dora's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Poseyville United Methodist Church.
